Tracy and John

Tracy Pate and John Jones are the owners of Pate-Jones Construction, Inc. A familiar story of boyhood friends growing up in a small-farm community in northeast Missouri, Tracy and John attended the same rural school and participated in sports together. Both learned the value of a strong work ethic from an early age, and are familiar with working long hours and doing “what it takes” to perform a job well. Those same values are evident in our every accomplishment since partnering to form Pate-Jones Construction in 1994. We are proud to provide quality, affordable homes to the people in Columbia, Missouri, and surrounding communities.

Tracy’s first post-high school job was in a window and door manufacturing plant in Marceline, Missouri. John’s home building experience began as a student in a Building Trades class at Macon Vocational-Technical School in Macon, Missouri. His grandfather was a carpenter by trade. John has been working in home construction since 1985. In 1988, John hired Tracy to be on the field crew he supervised for a home builder in Moberly, Missouri. For the next six years, Tracy and John worked side-by-side building homes in a four state region, hotels throughout Iowa and Illinois, and condominiums for The Lodge of Four Seasons at Lake of the Ozarks in southern Missouri.

Pate-Jones Construction is a natural progression of not only a long-standing friendship, but a professional career in home construction.

We make every effort to provide an accurate bid up front before the building process begins by establishing a unique one-on-one relationship with our clients. It is not uncommon for us to schedule evening meetings after putting in a full day in the home construction field. Whether you’re a first time home buyer who wants to put your current rent payment into a mortgage payment, a retired couple who wants a one-level home with all of the modern conveniences, or any variation between, we want you to be satisfied with the final result.

Tracy and John personally follow every phase of your home building process. We will guide the customer from the selection of the building lot through the final landscape decisions upon the home’s completion. Pate-Jones Construction gives each customer numerous options, upgrade features and costs for consideration before building begins. Our new “Presidential Collection” of homes features five different floor plans with detailed specifications and a variety of options and upgrades for your individual consideration.

Pate-Jones Construction maintains a strong, professional relationship with a network of subcontractors that have been with us from the start. These hard-working individuals have been essential to our success. In most cases, these relationships are not only professional, but have evolved into valued friendships. All have prospered and grown in their field of expertise. In addition, we have a professional trim carpenter on staff to provide custom woodwork, built-ins and shelving as well as cabinetry installation.

Our Growing Success

We have grown from building a single home our first year in business to completing more than 100 building projects in 2006. Pate-Jones Construction is a member of the Columbia, Missouri Home Builders Association, and has received that Association’s Regency Award for three consecutive years in three price categories ranging from $150,000 to $249,999. We have participated in the Home Builders Association “Parade of Homes” since 1988. In May, 2002, Pate-Jones Construction was honored to receive the “Small Business of the Year” Award from the Chamber of Commerce in Columbia, Missouri.
